Nico's car developed a technical issue...

...in the opening stages of the race. As it was not possible to identify and fix the problem, the team was forced to retire car #27 from the race. The team will investigate the problem in depth following the event.

"It’s been a challenging weekend overall for us."

"Gabi delivered a very strong drive today, working his way back with good pace, composure and some well-judged overtaking that underlines the potential in the car. Equally, a lot of credit goes to the team, particularly the mechanics, who responded to a very difficult day yesterday with real determination and focus. That’s the spirit that continues to push us forward."

Allan McNish

“For Nico, it was frustrating. He was squeezed into Turn 1, which meant an early front wing change, and unfortunately a subsequent technical issue forced his retirement. From his starting position, he was very much in contention for points, so that’s clearly disappointing.”

Allan McNish

“Our priority now is to ensure we consistently convert that potential into results. We will take the learnings from this weekend, reset over the break, and come back ready to maximise the opportunity in Montreal.”

“It’s obviously not how we wanted to finish the weekend."

"We had a technical issue and had to retire, which is frustrating because the aim is always to be out there racing to the end. Overall, it’s been a challenging weekend."

"We’ll regroup, understand what happened and keep pushing. Staying persistent is key - that effort will pay off, and that’s what we’re focused on going forward.”

“I feel like the pace was there to fight for the points, but when you start last, there’s not really much you can do."

"I made my way through the back of the field, there was some good pace and some good moves, but just not enough time to overtake. Considering I started last and finished P12, I think it was a solid result. I’m really proud of the team and the work they did to get the car out there yesterday, and we’ll keep going.”

Miami Autodrome: Everything About the Circuit.

Formula 1 arrives in Miami.

The Miami Grand Prix was added in 2022 on a temporary circuit built around Hard Rock Stadium. The layout combines long straights, heavy braking zones and a tight chicane section.

A lap of changing rhythm.

A versatile setup is required in Miami, where mechanical grip in slow corners must align with speed on the straights. Audi Revolut F1® Team will aim to extract traction and consistency across a lap that changes rhythm quickly.

A significant effort went into preparing the car.

Unexpected residual pressure in the brake system forced Bortoleto to stop on track during the in-lap.

Black and white image of Gabriel Bortoleto seated low in the cockpit as a Audi Revolut F1® Team crew member places a hand on his shoulder.

“A very challenging day for us from start to finish."

"We had an issue on Nico’s car before the sprint which ultimately led to a leak and fire on the way to the grid, meaning he couldn’t start. On the other side, Gabriel made a strong start and drove well, but a technical infringement unfortunately resulted in a disqualification."

Alan McNish of Audi Revolut F1® Team in conversation with an SRO official inside a lit paddock corridor

Allan McNish

"Between sessions we then faced a gearbox issue on his car, and despite a huge effort from the crew to get him back out, a brake problem forced him to stop on track in qualifying."

Allan McNish

“The positive is Nico’s recovery, a very strong performance to take P11 and just miss out on Q3. More importantly, both crews showed real grit, determination and teamwork under pressure, which is exactly what we need at this stage of the project. We now have to regroup, learn from today, and make sure we maximise every opportunity that comes our way tomorrow.”

“First of all, a big thanks to the mechanics - they did a great job turning the car around after the Sprint and getting it back out there."

"It was a big effort in a short amount of time, so full credit to them. From my side, I think we got the maximum out of the session today. The gap to the cars ahead was quite clear, so realistically there wasn’t much more on the table."

Nico Hulkenberg sits outdoors in the Audi Revolut F1® Team Miami race suit and dark ic! berlin sunglasses, looking ahead with palm trees and bright sky behind him.

Nico Hulkenberg

"The car felt consistent with yesterday, which was important given we didn’t have time for the usual checks after the repairs. Now it’s about focusing on tomorrow and seeing what we can do in the race.”

Nico Hulkenberg

“The positive is Nico’s recovery, a very strong performance to take P11 and just miss out on Q3. We now have to regroup, learn from today, and make sure we maximise every opportunity that comes our way tomorrow.”

"A bit of a tough day with an unfortunate disqualification in the Sprint."

"It felt like I had settled into a pace I was comfortable with, but the cars ahead were also quite strong. Before the Qualifying session, we had to make some changes to the car, but obviously didn't have a lot of time."

Gabriel Bortoleto

"The team did a tremendous job to get the car back out there, but when things have to be rushed like this and you don’t have time to fully check everything, it’s always going to be tough. We tried our best, but had too many problems on the lap and had to stop the car. It’s a shame, but it’s a new day tomorrow."

“It was a good recovery after a not ideal FP session, and overall, a very tight qualifying."

"Both drivers missed out on SQ3 by just a couple of hundredths of a second, which shows how fine the margins are. We came into the session knowing that if everything came together, we could be in that fight, and ultimately,
we were right on the edge of it. "

"While it’s frustrating to miss out by such small differences, it also highlights how competitive the field is and where we need to focus to make the next step. On the positive side, the feedback from both drivers on the balance of the car was encouraging and we’re in a reasonable position heading into tomorrow. There’s still a lot up for grabs.”

"Coming into the weekend, expectations were fairly open, but overall, it was a decent session for us."

"It wasn’t perfect, but I think we extracted what was there today. There’s still a lot of racing to be done. Our race pace has looked quite solid recently, so the focus now is on putting everything together when it counts. Conditions here will be a factor, especially with the heat, so it should be an interesting one.”

"Obviously, I’m a bit disappointed not to make it through to SQ3, it was close and I felt like we had the potential today."

"The lap itself wasn’t too bad, but there were a few small things here and there that could have gone better. At the same time, I'm happy because we had a couple of challenges in FP and we lost half an hour, so happy to go to Sprint Qualifying and still be able to progress. It felt like the car did a good step."
