To start off, tell us a little bit about yourself and your role?

"I work in the Clean Room and my job is to manufacture carbon fibre components that are used on the car."

What does your day-to-day work involve?

"In simple terms, we take raw carbon fibre and transform it into car parts. We prepare the moulds, carefully lay down the different layers of carbon fibre, trim them to precise dimensions and prepare everything for curing in the autoclave. Once the curing process is complete, we remove the car part from the mould and prepare it for the next stages of production.
It sounds simple when you describe it quickly, but every component requires a tremendous degree of precision and attention to detail."

Can you give us an example?

"Take a front wing or a chassis. Some smaller components can be produced in a few hours, but larger and more complex parts can take days or even weeks. A chassis can contain more than a thousand individual carbon fibre layers, along with inserts, reinforcements and other materials. Every layer must be positioned exactly as instructed because even a small mistake can affect the design or make it weaker."

You’ve been with the team for about a year now. What route did you follow before joining?

"Before joining the team, I worked in rallying. I started my career as a mechanic and later became interested in composites. My previous manager gave me the opportunity to learn more about carbon fibre manufacturing and that’s where my passion for this field really started. Eventually, that experience led me to Formula 1®."

How does your role contribute to the team as a unit?

"The Clean Room is where raw materials begin their transformation into actual car parts. Engineering, design and assembly are, of course, essential departments, whereas our work involves turning ideas into physical components that can be tested, developed and eventually raced."

What do you enjoy most about your work?

"The people and the teamwork. We are a united department but that alone would not be enough as our relationship with other departments, and in specific with the Design Office, is extremely important for our workflow. One thing I really appreciate is the team spirit. When I come across a challenge, it never feels like I’m facing it alone. If I have a problem, the team has a problem, and we work together to find the best solution. That mindset makes coming to work every day an enjoyable experience."

And finally, what motivates you?

"Knowing that the work we do contributes directly to a Formula 1® car is incredibly rewarding. Every part matters and being part of a team that jointly creates those parts is something I’m very proud of."
