Hi, I’m Sofia.

Junior Cost Cap Analyst in Hinwil

This month, the All for One campaign puts the spotlight on Sofia, our Junior Cost Cap Analyst in Hinwil.

  • Sofia, can you tell us about yourself and how you joined the team?

"I love F1® and I always wanted to move to Switzerland. In 2025, I was looking for a position that offered a broader business perspective rather than purely financial work, and the role of Junior Cost Cap Analyst at Audi Revolut F1® Team was a perfect fit as it combines finance with strategic thinking."

  • For those who may not know, what is the cost cap?

"The cost cap is a financial limit defining how much money a Formula 1® team is allowed to spend on developing and racing its cars. Hence, efficient resource allocation becomes a huge factor affecting the competitiveness of an F1® team. It was introduced in 2021 to create a more sustainable and competitive sport while also closing the gap between the wealthiest teams and those with fewer financial resources."

  • Are all the expenses included?

"Not every expense is included. The cost cap varies every year and for 2026 it is set at CHF 190m, covering costs such as designing, developing, manufacturing and racing the car. But some areas, like Marketing, HR activities and some other support functions, are excluded by FIA regulations.
If a team exceeds the cost cap, it can face financial penalties, sporting penalties or both, imposed by the FIA."

  • Can you tell us about your role?

"I work on optimising costs across various departments, such as Human Resources, Marketing and Sporting, while also supporting the team through training on cost-cap-related topics to ensure resources are allocated as efficiently as possible. Additionally, my responsibilities include supporting process automation initiatives."

  • What might surprise people about your job?

"By optimising spending and ensuring compliance with the regulations, we help the team focus on what matters most: building the fastest and most competitive car possible."

  • What do you personally enjoy most about your work?

"I enjoy the strategic aspect of the role. I like finding opportunities to optimise the resources we have and understanding how business decisions can influence performance on track. What makes it especially interesting is knowing that the decisions we make, even right at the beginning of the season, can have a real impact months later."

  • And finally, what drives your passion for Formula 1®?

"For me, it’s the combination of strategy, teamwork and performance. I enjoy being part of a sport where every decision matters. Knowing that the work we do behind the scenes contributes to what happens on track makes the role incredibly rewarding."

Our All for One series continues next month, where we'll introduce another colleague and explore how their work contributes to the team.
