Malaysia returns to the F1® calendar.

Audi Revolut F1® Team will race at Sepang International Circuit later this year after Formula 1® confirmed Malaysia's return to the calendar.

Formula 1® has added Sepang International Circuit to the calendar in 2026, with the sport set to return to the track in October. The former host of the Malaysian Grand Prix will stand in as host of the previously called-off Bahrain Grand Prix, with the race officially being known as the "Formula 1® Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix in Malaysia". Following a deal signed between F1®, the FIA and the Governments of both Bahrain and Malaysia, Sepang International Circuit returns to the calendar for the first time since 2017, when it last hosted the Malaysian Grand Prix.

Kuala Lumpur’s comeback.

Audi Revolut F1® Team's first visit to Malaysia is an exciting opportunity to demonstrate the team's adaptability. Preparations for Sepang will already be underway, with the race presenting a further opportunity for points in the team's first season. Located just outside of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia's vibrant capital city, this fan-favourite circuit is often cited as track designer Hermann Tilke's best work. Built over the course of just 14 months, Sepang appeared on the F1® calendar in every season from 1999 to 2017, becoming synonymous with exciting races, daring overtaking moves and changeable weather conditions.

The 5.543km circuit layout combines long straights, tight hairpins and sweeping high-speed corners. The layout makes for racing that is just as exciting for fans trackside as it is for the drivers in the cockpit. The addition of Malaysia to the 2026 calendar means that the event will form part of a triple-header of races, along with the Azerbaijan and Singapore Grands Prix. The second half of the season will be a very busy time for Audi Revolut F1® Team, with nine race weekends taking place in the space of just 11 weeks.

Fast facts: F1® in Malaysia.

High humidity:

Sepang's humidity levels can be a challenge to control. With the Singapore Grand Prix following just one week after this year's race in Malaysia, October is set to be a big test of driver fitness.

Built to last:

Sepang's track surface is composed of a special bitumen compound, designed to keep the track smooth in the face of Malaysia's climatic conditions and regular monsoons.

Heavy tropical rain falls across the Sepang International Circuit, showcasing Malaysia's unpredictable weather.

Watch the weather:

Rain is common at Sepang International Circuit. Half points were awarded at the 2009 Malaysian Grand Prix as the race was unable to be completed due to heavy rain.

Fan favourite:

Fans in Malaysia have endured a near-decade-long absence of F1® in the country. There's space for 130,000 spectators trackside – and we bet the stands will be full with fans celebrating the sport's return.

A new destination for Audi Revolut F1® Team.

With the addition of Malaysia, the calendar for Audi Revolut F1® Team's maiden season now sits at 23 rounds. While October will mark Gabi's first appearance at Sepang International Circuit, Nico raced here in the Malaysian Grand Prix seven times between 2010 and 2017, with a best finish of fifth in 2014.

Building on positive points-scoring momentum before the summer break, Malaysia presents an unexpected but exciting new challenge, as well as an additional opportunity for Audi Revolut F1® Team to continue its midfield progress.
