Many of the main roads in the city are closed off on race weekend, but traffic chaos isn’t a problem for visiting F1® fans. The city is welcoming to tourists. Whether you’re taking in the Old City or strolling along the seaside, its compact nature means that Baku is largely walkable for its visitors.

Even if it’s a little too far to walk from your accommodation to the track, Azerbaijan’s metro service is hassle-free and another cost-effective way of getting around the city, with stations dotted around near various circuit gates.

The Azerbaijan Grand Prix has a reputation for producing unexpected results. With little to no margin against the circuit’s barriers, speeds reaching up to 350km/h and sharp braking zones, Baku City Circuit has a habit of delivering showstopping races. Those lucky enough to be in the grandstands will be truly immersed in Saturday’s 51-lap Grand Prix.

Azerbaijan does not benefit from the full package of support races seen at other venues, but there is Formula 2 action throughout the weekend, which can sometimes be more hectic than the F1® action! Series bosses have added an extra Feature Race to entertain fans in Baku, meaning there’ll be three races in total for the future stars of F1.

Audi Development Driver Freddie Slater will be racing here in F2 next year, with this year’s Formula 3 runner-up recently having been signed to Invicta Racing for the 2027 season.

Following in the footsteps of other in-city races, Azerbaijan brings superstar performances for its Grand Prix weekend. Previously headlined by the likes of Enrique Iglesias, Mariah Carey, Sam Smith, Christina Aguilera and Dua Lipa, this year’s concerts will be headlined by Katy Perry and Calvin Harris.

Free for all four-day ticket holders, the concerts take place at Baku’s Crystal Hall, which was built in 2012 when the country hosted the Eurovision Song Contest for the first time. It’s an hour-long walk from the track, though organisers lay on a special shuttle service to save fans walking.
