2026 Monaco Grand Prix: Friday

Audi Revolut F1® Team ends Friday in Monte Carlo with both cars inside the top ten.

Monaco starts to take shape.

Audi Revolut F1® Team completed a productive opening day at the Monaco Grand Prix. Nico Hulkenberg and Gabriel Bortoleto finished inside the top ten in both FP1 and FP2, gathering relevant data around the streets of Monte Carlo ahead of the next phase of the weekend. The focus centred around setup work and long-run evaluation. Monaco requires a different operating rhythm from permanent circuits: minimal margin for error, constant driver input, and a lap that rewards confidence only when the car responds precisely.

The Team completed its planned programme, using each run to refine the car’s balance and improve coordination between the pit wall, garage, and drivers. Both drivers reported a positive progression in balance across the day. The car reacted consistently to setup changes, giving the team a clearer read on the package before qualifying preparation begins in earnest. The top-ten positions provide a useful reference point, but Monaco compresses the field into fine margins where a few tenths can define several rows of the grid.

Attention now turns to the overnight analysis before qualifying day. On Monte Carlo’s 19-corner street circuit, track position carries more weight than at almost any other venue on the Formula 1® calendar. Audi Revolut F1® Team will use the Friday data to refine the car and prepare for the session that is likely to shape the rest of the weekend.

"It was quite a decent Friday for us."

"That said, everyone will be working hard overnight to find improvements, so we need to make sure we analyse everything from today and put the best package on track tomorrow."

Nico Hulkenberg

"Qualifying is obviously very important here, but there's still plenty to get right across the weekend. The focus now is on staying calm, doing our homework and making sure we're ready to maximise our opportunities tomorrow."

"It was a decent day overall."

"Despite a few hiccups at the beginning of FP1, we managed to get the car into the top ten, which is quite encouraging. FP2 felt smooth and clean, and I was able to consistently improve throughout the session."

"It took a little time to put together a strong lap with the traffic out there, but I'm happy with what we managed in the end. We learned more about our balance and where our limitations are, which gives us a good direction for tomorrow."

Gabriel Bortoleto

"There's still plenty we can improve, and we'll be working hard tonight to find those extra gains."
